A walk through the city from Grimm’s Hotel
Grimm's Hotel Mitte offers a prime location for exploring historic Berlin on foot.
Grimm’s Hotel Berlin-Mitte is the ideal starting point to get to know the historical core of Berlin. The Nikolai Quarter is just a few minutes walk away, the place where Berlin was founded. Today it is a quarter that is especially popular for tourists. The many small stores and restaurants make a nice backdrop for vacation photos, as do some of the surrounding buildings that were not destroyed during the war. The Nikolai Church and the Ephraim Palace are just two of these historic buildings. Right next to them are, among others, the Red City Hall, the newly rebuilt Berlin City Palace, and on the opposite side, the Berlin Cathedral and Museum Island.
Even if you don’t want to visit the exhibitions and museums of Berlin, you should not miss the Berlin Museum Island as an architectural highlight. In summer you can sit relaxed in front of the cathedral under the trees in the shade and cool off and even in winter there is always something going on on the Museum Island! – Every weekend, next to the Zeughaus, the Berlin Art Market takes place, which is specialized in art or handicrafts and offers many designers the opportunity to show and sell their products.
As part of the annual Berlin Summer of Culture Festival, there will once again be numerous events throughout the city and, of course, on Museum Island in 2023.

Just a view minutes walk away from our Grimm’s Hotel in Mitte you can go to the Alte Nationalgalerie – in summer every Thursday there is live music and / or DJs at the Kolonnaden Bar.
